HOT TRAILS - How To Use Each Scent

DOE-N-HEAT: Doe n heat is a post rut, during rut, and late season scent. Use it early for that buck who is trying to be first to the first doe to come into heat. I use it from the start of the season all the way thru the end. If you hunt on the ground, this makes a fine Cover scent. Just place it about 3 feet downwind of you and when your scent blows across the candle, your scent is covered. I use this when I am on the ground using my rattling horns.

DOMINANT BUCK: This scent is often misunderstood. It is not the scent of the Dominant Buck, but the scent of a lesser Buck. It is an INTRUDER scent which should make the Dominant Buck come to see who is in his Territory. If you are going to try to rattle up a big buck, burn the Dominant buck scent along with the Doe n Heat scent. This way you are giving out the smell of a hot doe, and a buck. It just makes a more believable scenario to the Buck hearing you rattling.

DEER CORN: Some States allow Baiting and others don’t. Some allow baiting but you can’t hunt over it. This is the scent of Field Corn including the husk. In States where you can’t hunt over bait, feed regular corn up to the time you have to remove it, then burn a Deer Corn Candle to make the game think there is still real corn on the ground.

DEER APPLE: Some really great Deer have been killed coming and going from Apple Orchards. This is pretty simple, it’s a FOOD SCENT. I feel food scents are best late in the season when Bucks are run down from the Rut, winter has set in, and there is not much to eat. Offer him a Deer Apple Candle and see what happens.

WHITE OAK ACORN: White Oak Trees do not grow everywhere. But you can bet where they do, Deer love to eat the acorns. If the acorns are eaten up, or if it was a bad year and the trees did not make many, use our White Oak Acorn scent candles for success.

PERSIMMON: Since wild persimmons which are sweet do not grow around where I live in Texas, I had to learn about Persimmons from my friends in Tennessee. These trees grow mostly in the south and when they are ripe they are very sweet and fall to the ground. Deer just love them.

EARTH SCENT: When I first made this my Mother could not quit laughing. “A candle that smells like dirt!” You guessed it, a great Cover Scent. But I have noticed in South Texas when we plow a field or a right of way, deer come out in it and sniff around.

NEW CURIOSITY: Works Great early in the season. You asked for it, now you’ve got it. Nothing else like in on the Market. Curiosity spells Success early in the season.

COYOTE/FOX: This scent is for the off season when you just have to get to the woods and shoot something. Use it when using your game calls. As the game gets closer to the sound of your call they start to smell this rancid smell of meat. They will start to focus on the smell (it’s getting stronger as they get closer) which takes their minds off of You.

OUR BEAR SCENTS: All of our bear scents are proven bear getters. Bears have such a keen sense of smell they can smell a Hot, Heated scent from a long ways off. Try our Honey, Anise, Cinnamon, or Bacon Scents this fall or next spring.
